Yale University and Branford College have special rules for the way mail is processed. If you’d like to ship a package or send mail to your Branfordian, please choose a carrier and follow the procedure below.
Note: Incorrect or incomplete labels will result in delayed or return to sender packages.
United States Postal Service (USPS) — also known as US Mail
USPS does not ship to 74 High St., and USPS mail sent to the Branford Master’s Office always results in delays. Please ship all USPS mail and packages using the student’s PO Box. Note: Students will be asked to present their ID when claiming packages

United Parcel Service (UPS)
UPS packages, the fastest and most common mailing service to Yale, is very particular about correct labeling. Incorrect UPS labels often result in return to sender, so better to get it right the first time.

Note: During the academic year, UPS packages arrive to basement of Hendrie Hall at 165 Elm St. Because of the high volume of packages sent at the beginning of the year, however, at the beginning of the semester (8/31 and 9/1 – 9/5) UPS sets up a truck in front of Phelps Gate on Old Campus. Students will be required to show ID when they receive their packages.
Federal Express (FedEx)
FedEx is usually slower than UPS and does not ship to PO Boxes, so don’t even bother asking. The only option is to ship to the Branford Master’s Office, but Master Smith and Alicia politely request that you use UPS — otherwise, they’ll get barricaded in their offices with FedEx boxes like they have in year’s past.
